Adhesive Capsulitis or ‘Frozen Shoulder’
Over a period of a time this inflammatory condition gradually worsens. Your shoulder and arm become very painful and difficult to move and you may even experience loss of mobility because the capsule inside the shoulder joint is inflamed.
Rotator Cuff Tears
If you suspect you have a rotator cuff tear, stand with the affected arm down by your side and see if you can raise it sideways, away from your body. If you experience pain or are unable to move the arm it’s likely you have a rotator cuff injury. This type of injury can vary from a partial tear to a complete tear. A partial tear may only cause pain in the shoulder affected and you may experience some weakness but if it’s a complete tear you may experience limited or no movement of the shoulder. Don’t despair our Chiropractors can effectively treat the problem.
Tendonitis
Another inflammatory condition often developing in the neck, shoulders and arms usually as a result of an activity you’re not used to such as working with your arms raised above your head for example painting a ceiling.
Referred Pain from another Location
In some cases you may experience what we call referred pain. Pain in your shoulders and arms may actually be originating from the neck or upper back and causing symptoms such as headaches or dizziness.
